Our Story

Mangana Olinda is a unique family business that has grown and developed over thirty-five years to become one of Melbourne’s favourite homewares and lifestyle stores.

Since being established in Olinda in 1983, Mangana has been owner operated by John and Judy Ischia. Housed in two of Olinda's original buildings, circa 1900, Mangana has been restored and renovated including an impressive walkway connecting the two buildings which provide both wheelchair access and a sense of space.

Walking through Mangana feels like a journey through the old-world.  Sourced from craftsmen around the world, each piece is carefully selected by the owners for its beauty, charm and timelessness. The range is displayed like an Aladdin’s cave featuring museum-style scientific and maritime instruments, leadlight lamps, Australian sheepskin footwear, solid timber furniture, genuine gemstone and silver jewellery, leather-goods, and other exclusive quality-crafted treasures.

From small beginnings Mangana now has an exclusive and well-priced collection that is both unique and affordable.

Only 50 minutes drive from the Melbourne CBD, Mangana Olinda is located on picturesque Mt Dandenong with its beautiful scenery, fresh air and village atmosphere.

The owner Judy Ischia says “Many of our loyal customers make the special trip to Mangana to enjoy the atmosphere and purchase gifts for their friends and family as well as items for their own home.  There are few shops like this anymore, this vast collection has been built on over many years of hard work, passion and an eye for the unusual!”
